If there’s one thing I’ve always loved, it’s making kids laugh. Whether I was goofing around as the middle kid with a big imagination, cracking jokes in class, or doodling my way through the neighborhood, I’ve always been chasing that spark—the kind that lights up a kid’s eyes and fills a room with giggles.
That spark turned into a lifelong mission: to create simple, funny, and joyful stories that make learning feel like play. I’ve been lucky to wear lots of hats along the way—youth art instructor, illustrator, designer, author, educator, visiting author—and every role has had the same goal: to help kids (and grown-ups, too!) fall in love with creativity.
Since 2001, I’ve written and/or illustrated over 150 award-winning board books, picture books, chapter books, poetry, joke books, middle grade novels—and even helped bring Emmy-nominated animated stories to life on screen. Every project is powered by joy, and I’ve gotten to team up with some truly magical collaborators who believe, like I do, that laughter isn’t just fun—it’s the secret sauce of learning.
These days, I’m also an art and literary agent, helping other storytellers and artists find their way into the publishing world and onto kids’ bookshelves.
